About This Game Terroir is a 3D tile-based tycoon game where you manage your very own vineyard. In Terroir, you grow a variety of different grape varietals, craft your wine, and expand and manage your Estate. You'll also have to deal with factors such as weather and random events, which can either make or break your business.FeaturesSome of the game's features and mechanics include: Choose from a selection of different grape varieties, each with their own demands. Dynamic weather system reflecting the unpredictability of real world climate. Each complete playthrough lasts 60 in-game years, but Players can continue playing without contributing to their final score. Craft wine through the game's 4 winemaking processes: Crushing, Fermentation, Pressing and Ageing. Each type of grape needs to be crafted a certain way to achieve the best results, so you'll have to learn and master each one. Start out with a single planting tile, then expand your Estate to up to 33 tiles, using 6 different tile types. Some tiles affect the ones around it, so placement is key. Customize your estate with ambient items. CHANCE & CIRCUMSTANCE: Terroir's random event and mission system. Players can open the Mystery Box and choose between CHANCE (a random event that could either have a positive or undesirable outcome) or CIRCUMSTANCE (a mission that a Player completes for rewards, or gets penalized for failing). Join Wine Awards for a chance to earn bonuses to your wine's value and your Estate's renown. Clean, minimalist design and gorgeous low-poly 3D models. Original soundtrack composed and performed by Singapore's CLARQuinet ensemble.Put on your field gloves, grab a pair of pruning shears and build your Chateau literally from the ground up. Played the Demo for hours and decided to buy the game eventually but returned it before I passed the 2hrs mark. Main issue for me is the very basic game engine. You can't handle the different grape varieties really independent from each other over most parts of the manufacturing process. If one step for one variety takes 2 month whereas the other variety only need 2 weeks you have to wait the whole 2 month before you can continue with both of them. That is somewhat ridiculous especially if you have to harvest all varieties at the same time. Eventhough it's just a simplified video game of course that is just a tad to unrealistic. Same applies for the fact that you can't plant more than 3 different grape varieties. There was a German game back in the early 90s called Winzer and that was in parts already more complex than this one as you had manage the acquisition of workers, barrels, bottles and harvest machines for example yourself from the beginning. You could also export your wine to several countries or produce sparkling wine and champagne. Another suggestions would be the introduction of wine faires or the producton of cuvées. With these points in mind I think the game has much more potential. The developers have been very enthusiastic in the beginning. Hope they put more efforts in this game as the output might become considerable more satisfying. That's said the game concept itself is really good. Will happily change this review to a recommendation if we see some further good development.. the dark souls of wine games. Very Very good for a wine making game feels very relaxed you should buy this game. A charming Wine Tycoon game that hides the brutality and anxiety of capitalism and starting a small business behind its cheerful art style and delightful theme. This game will crush your winery with bad weather and the fruits of your own mismanagement and then rub your face in the fact that you make terrible wine (the in-game wine critics can be brutal) but eventually you'll become a skilled vintner and see your vineyard grow, which is quite satisfying. This game is in Early Access so obviously it needs a bit of ironing out but theres nothing here that makes it unplayable or unenjoyable. It could use more content but it seems like the developer is active and working away on it, that said i've only used probably about 1/3 to 1/2 of the content in the game so there are still things to do in the game. Over all I'd definately recomend Terrior (but watch the tutorial videos before you start playing), for only 10$ its absolutely worth it and it shows a lot of promise for growth.. This game has good potential but unfortunately the winemaking process presented within the game has very little to do with winemaking in the real world. A lot of aspects of this game are also very unrealistic. Moreover, there are some annoying engine problems and bugs.. The tutorial seemed fairly straight forward but it quickly became apparent that it didn't really prepare me for the game at all. I ended up spending like 15 minutes reading through the in-game manual to figure things out. There's a growth phase and then a creation phase. The growth phase takes up most of the year. Your plants ripen in the sun, but they also grow leaves which prevent this. You want them to be fairly ripe but not over-rippened, so you basically spend most of the year staring at your plant and deciding when to trim the leaves (by clicking on them). Then at the end of the year you can harvest your plants and turn it into wine using a series of dialogue boxes which change the stats of your final product. Most of these boxes will have only one option at the start of the game anyway as you have to drop a whole lot of money into upgrades. It's boring. You spend most of the game staring at your plants as they ripen. Then you make the wine and return to staring at your plants. There're a few other bits like buying plots of land or upgrades but they're super expensive.. Love this little game! Some things could be better but it is getting there. This would be a great Android/iOS game.
